Central Embassy - Architecture
Sub Consultant to AL_A
Acting as AL_A Project Director for Central Embassy, design development through to construction on site.
Completion 2015.
Designed by AL_A, Central Embassy is located within the former gardens of the British Embassy along Ploenchit Road, Bangkok’s primary commercial artery. The 1.5 million sq ft Bangkok Central Embassy project merges a seven-storey luxury retail podium and a 30 storey five-star hotel tower.
Diba Salam was invited by AL_A to lead Central Embassy on AL_A’s behalf. We revisited the façade design and its detail design with Amanda in order to meet the challenging client budget and programme. We demonstrated that the concept had been respected whilst responding to local craftsmanship and technological standards in Thailand’s emerging market.
Central to our wider role with the client, was working closely with a team of international designers, luxury tenants and contractors. We created a forum where we led senior project leaders to ensure the concept was respected and a holistic approach to design was adopted by all designers. We continue to work closely with the client to meet the challenges in delivering an international luxury mall.
