Central Phuket - Masterplan
The principle design vision for this project is to provide Phuket with a unique, distinctive and world class memorable landmark destination. Not only will it incorporate the very best in luxury brands but also immerse and transport the customer into a botanical, low-energy, educational experience through smart technology.
Sustainability is embedded in Phuket’s identity. Since the tragic tsunami, Phuket has emerged as an active participant in finding sustainable solutions addressing the social, economic and environmental global issues. This approach forms the principles of the project, which celebrates sustainable placemaking for communities.. Central Phuket’s location in the heart of Phuket utilises newly upgraded road infrastructure breathing new life to the existing Festival Mall and adjoining brown field sites.
The masterplanning principles celebrates its excellent locality and visibility, whilst recognising the potential of creating a new vibrant urban district. Connectivity within this district is provided through a series of landscape bridge links that will ease the circulation and provide a seamless and continuous experience for customers and local residents.
Central Floresta, is the first new build phase within the Central Phuket masterplan. Geometries found in nature have inspired the form and articulation of the façade and interior design. The plan and form are inspired by nature’s leaf, with the gentle fold and texture articulated through the use of GRC and metal sheet. The subtle shift in geometry offers an ideal opportunity for shelter from the rain and solar glare.
Central Phuket's design is inspired by the regions vernacular, from its historical Sino Portuguese heritage to its rich maritime lifestyle, but above all its natural landscape. The masterplan seeks to create a new dynamic district bringing locals and international tourist to a truly world class destination.
